The Baby Boutique
An impressive part of the Earn While You Learn (EWYL) Parenting Program is the Baby Boutique. While all services at the center are free, the Baby Boutique offers an exceptional variety of items for the mother and child who are a part of the program. Clients typically come in when they don't have a scheduled appointment and say, “oh, I just need to use the store.” The 'store' gives clients the opportunity to shop for many things they need to take care of their baby and themselves on a day to day basis. Clients earn stamps (or credits) while participating in classes and attending monthly visits that can be used in the Baby Boutique to get whatever items they want.
The list of material items in the store is nearly exhaustive. The store always carries diapers (premie-4T Pull-Ups), wipes, baby clothes and sleepers (premie-3T), maternity clothes, pacifiers, blankets, bibs, socks, shoes, winter coats, swimsuits, play mats, exersaucers, cribs, formula, and baby foods. Other items the store generally carries are changing tables, car seats, baby toys, baby carriers, bouncy seats, swings, and breatfeeding supplies.
And the reason this store operates at all and serves so many families is because of generous local donors. Moms, dads, and grandparents from the community stop by daily to drop off gently used clothing, bottles, bedding, and baby furniture. Many others donate items collected at birthday parties, backyard barbeques, and church group meetings. How wonderful to see so many people in our community wanting to support others. This is the true meaning of loving one another!
